The initiate, known as an Amritdhari Sikh, drinks the Amrit and commits to following the teachings of Sikhism, including the Five Ks and the code of conduct outlined in the Sikh Rehat Maryada. The ceremony symbolizes a rebirth and a commitment to living a life dedicated to Sikh principles. **
